THE ETHLEY LONDON SCHOLARSHIP 2025 ANNOUNCEMENT

The Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE) is pleased to announce that application is now open for the  Ethley London Scholarship 2025.

Background
Since its inception in 2004 as a network for external quality assurance agencies, CANQATE has expanded to include other entities that have an interest in quality assurance and enhancement, including tertiary education institutions, government, and state agencies within the CARICOM region.
The aims and objectives of CANQATE are to share information and best practice in the field of tertiary education quality assurance, as well as to strengthen and harmonise tertiary education quality assurance policies and standards in the region.  One way CANQATE facilitates the sharing and learning of best practices is the hosting of its annual conference.  CANQATE is proud of its record of hosting 15 consecutive conferences since 2004 and recognises the support of the tertiary education quality assurance fraternity for making these conferences successful.

Purpose of Scholarship
The Ethley London Scholarship, named after Dr. Ethley London, the founding president of CANQATE, purposes, therefore, are  to:

• contribute to the capacity building of our members,
• add value to being a member of CANQATE, and
• serve as an incentive to garner interest in CANQATE.

Eligible members of CANQATE are asked to submit application for the Ethley London Scholarship.

Criteria:
Recipients:

1. Should be members in good standing
2. Must attend the CANQATE Conference in the calendar year of the award
3. Must NOT be a Board Member or co-opted Board member of CANQATE
4. Must NOT be an Honorary Member of CANQATE
5. Not in receipt of funding from another institution/organisation

Process:

1. Must complete and submit the application form online, outlining how the scholarship would be beneficial; provide summary of their contribution to quality assurance in higher education within the Caribbean region
2. Must submit endorsement letter from their institution outlining their contribution to quality assurance in higher education

Value of Scholarship

• Sponsored registration fee by CANQATE Board for Annual Conference in the awarded year
• Certificates to be given to Scholarship Recipients
• Up to US$500 per recipient (as determined by the Selection Committee) towards airfare and/or accommodations, if applicable

Responsibilities of the Recipient(s)

• Serve as CANQATE’s Ambassador for the year, including participating in CANQATE Webinars, and other professional activities.
• Present in at least one CANQATE Webinar during their tenure
• Actively promote CANQATE’s mission, vision, and values within their institution, professional networks, and the wider higher education community.
• Assist with the establishment and promotion of the CANQATE Core Groups within their country and region
• Propose at least one continuous quality enhancement initiative for the benefit of CANQATE and its membership
• Submit a report at the end of the scholarship year outlining how the award contributed to their professional development and capacity building.

 

Promotional Activities

• CANQATE reserves the right to use the scholarship recipient’s name,  image and contribution, associated with the scholarship, for the promotion of CANQATE events and activities
